Lee Running: Acts of Repair
Thursday, October 17 - Sunday, October 20
The Chauncey, Atrium
The FilmScene atrium will be transformed with a site-specific installation by Lee Emma Running, in conversation with our opening night selection, Nightbitch. Running’s work provided inspiration for Mother’s art in Rachel Yoder’s novel. In this multi-form installation, Running references microscopic scans of bone marrow to create a patterned window application surrounding a suspended sculpture of roadkill deer skeletons and deer hides enhanced with paper lace, cast glass, and gilded gold. A dance between allure and violence.
We Always Come HerE
Friday, October 18 - Sunday, October 20
The Chauncey, 4th Floor
In this poetic meditation on the half-century history of the Ped Mall, Iowa City artist Ian Bennett reassembles archival film and video, found footage and photos, interviews through the ages, and contemporary reflections. A video loop that is both of its time and out of time. Members of the public are invited to pause and contemplate, and can enter at any point. Supported by the Iowa City 2024 Public Art Matching Grant Program.
