Revision is a perpetual video installation commissioned annually for the festival, forever adapting the work of the previous year's artist. Currently, FilmScene has an open request for proposals inviting artists to submit ideas for a video art piece, informed and adapted from the previous edition of Revision, a 52-minute video entitled We Always Come Here, by Ian Bennett. The piece should be inspired by the festival’s guiding theme of “adaptation,” and take the existing piece, an archival meditation on Iowa City's Ped Mall, into new conceptual territory rooted in our Iowa City community.

Now accepting applications for 2025 music and visual art! Movie lovers will rejoice at the opportunity to take in multiple films each day, with screenings preceded by live musical performances or on screen art shows by local artists to form a kaleidoscopic impression of the many artistic disciplines that inform our big screen experience. In 2024our festival pre-shows featured 27 local live musicians and 9 on screen slideshows created by local artists adding their talent to the festival vibes.
